Materials development lab achieves additional accreditation

Freudenberg Oil & Gas Technologies’ Materials Development and Product Testing Lab facility recently achieved the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation for testing and calibration laboratories.

“Attaining this accreditation highlights once again our continual commitment to being the premier technical sealing solution provider to the upstream oil and gas industry,” says Richard T. Schmidt, President and CEO of Freudenberg Oil & Gas Technologies (FO&GT).
“This achievement reinforces our technical foundation supporting our internal material development processes and new product development capabilities for our customers.”

Freudenberg Oil & Gas Technologies opened the Materials Development and Product Testing Lab in January 2012. Building on the nearly century-long material and sealing expertise of parent company Freudenberg Group, the facility develops sealing solutions specifically for upstream oil & gas applications.

The facility’s product testing capabilities, in combination with the development of proprietary materials, have helped bring innovative sealing solutions to the upstream market, including:

  • Gazguard ® - line of proprietary elastomers that meets NORSOK M710 standard requirements for both sections: RGD and H2S aging

  • WellProtek ™ – line of API-16A annular packing units which meet and exceed original equipment requirements per API 16A, 16AR and 53S standards

  • Unitized Seal-lok ™ – proprietary sealing solution tested up to 600° F, and pressures to 15,000 psi per ISO14310, V0 specification; designed for applications where traditional multi-component type seal stacks and bonded seals are currently used

  • Base Resistant Elastomers (BRE) – proprietary elastomers developed to address extreme applications; for use in downhole tooling technology
